The Newsvine Team is proud to announce that Aine MacDermot and Mykola Bilokonsky have been selected to receive Newsvine's highest honor, the Random Act of Vineness Award - for contributions to this community that go far beyond the call of duty.
Aine MacDermot - for her continuing dedication to helping others around the Vine, and for creating and fostering the Newsvine Help Group.
Newsvine Help isn't the first instance of Aine's many good deeds, it is but the latest incarnation of it. Aine has offered a helping hand to Newsviners from all walks of life ever since her first keystroke here. She has been patient and has gone out of her way to make others feel at home. Her unending dedication to increasing the site's usefulness to others has earned her the highest distinction we're able to offer a Newsvine user. Her motivation for having fielded countless questions and concerns across the site has been the satisfaction that others are able to find their way in what has become a very useful, but sometimes complex array of features we've built over the past year. Aine seldom contacts us directly with questions, yet she figures things out quickly and helps others to understand what comes easily to her. As the recipient of the most votes of All-Time on Newsvine (27,695 and counting), Aine is perhaps our best example of a Newsvine user. She is courteous, helpful and extremely productive - having seeded 2,781 links and written 25 articles in less than a year. Bottom line: Aine = Newsvine Ambassador
Mykola Bilokonsky - for his inspiring idea to create Newsvine Groups, and for his hard work in founding and cultivating our healthiest example of this feature.
Some people make offhand feature requests in comment threads. Others take it a step further and send us a site suggestion via email. Mykola takes all of this to the highest possible level and creates entire movements around his ideas. One of his ideas is now an integral part of our culture here at Newsvine. Furthermore, developing Newsvine Groups has been the largest project we have worked on to date - and we're extremely proud to say that it began as a request from a user. We're sure that Myk would've preferred it if we'd stuck with his original name, Guilds, but we're confident that he's still very happy to see them implemented after the long wait. Even at times when it seemed that everyone else had lost interest in his pet project, Mykola stuck to his vision and continued a conversation with us about the development of Groups. Since launch, Groups have proved to be a powerful element to further Newsvine's mission of connecting people to each other for the purpose of mutual edification and enjoyment. We find it very fitting, as a result, that the healthiest group on the Vine is also a creation of Mykola's - Newsvine Community. With 235 members, this group is an ever-bubbling reflection of Mykola's insatiable appetite for study and improvement of Newsvine's greatest asset - it's users. We'd like to thank Mykola for his unending enthusiasm, his lasting commitment and his unparalleled creativity toward the Newsvine community, by awarding him the Random Act of Vineness.
To the Yooper Angel and the Grouper Wizard, add my thanks and praises to the chorus, for what you have shared, so generously.
Sweet Fennel, one day they're sprouts, and you turn around, and they're full grown! Lucky us to have you both! pd :~)
Aine I can understand. After all, she does possess Newsvine's sexiest avatar. But Mykola Bilokonsky? That guy is trouble. For chrissakes, just look at that name! You won't find baseball or apple pie within 100-yards of that. I advocate adding him to your Watchlist for ease of reporting his subversive activities to federal watchdogs. Hell, even if Comrade Bilokonsky's moniker is fictitious that's just all the more reason to keep an eye on him. One has to question the intentions of anyone who doesn't have the brass huevos to post under their real name...
Comrade Bilokonsky is my little brother Andrew, thank you very much ;)
You may be on to me, Obleo, but it's too little too late! Soon my plan to subvert the goodnes and morality of the human race and replace it with godless social welfare programs will be complete...bwahaha.
Comrade Bilokonsky is my little brother Andrew, thank you very much
A-Ha! Send us a postcard from Gitmo, Commie!
she does possess Newsvine's sexiest avatar
Just a strange find... euphorism @ last.fm
Hello everyone,
I'm a guy from Japan
I love any styles of extreme music.
Please drop me a line
Wonder where he got that? *grin*
Congratulations Mykola and Aine, I can't think of more deserving people. Thank you both for being here.
congratulations Aine and Mykola!
Congrats to Myk for your persistent persuasiveness and Aine for your consistent quality, quantity, and thoughtfulness. I've lapsed into being a 'vine consumer, which underscores how deserving are you who consistently contribute so much to this forum. I still read your stuff, and it continues to inspire. In the last year, no other single activity has made me a better writer and thinker than this place.
Congrats guys!
well...there's not much left to say but I would be remiss if I failed to add my congratulations to the plethora you've received already.
Both of you have made me smarter in so many ways.
Buckets of joy and peace to Aine and Myk for their tireless efforts and inspired contributions.
Congrats, Aine & Myk! You two were among the first ones I put on my watchlist, along with a couple of other RAV honorees and a couple of soon-to-be-I'm-sure honorees. When I started posting a year ago, Myk was already going strong and Aine was revving up -- neither one of them have stopped since.
So far, that branch has gone to a bunch of really deserving people. I'm glad to see Calvin and Mike and the gang have been really discriminating and thoughtful in their choices -- but I wouldn't expect anything less!
So, what are you guys gonna do with all your newfound powers? :)

I don't think it includes a requisition slip for new computer equipment, but if it did, that's what I'd go for. *grin*
I'm going to, uh, try to be the next Miss America. I think with these credentials I'll be damn near unstoppable!
You'll have my vote Mykola :-) And if you don't make it, don't worry, that RAV is so shiny the Miss America Crown will be hardly noticeable next to your RAV :-)
I'm not interested in the crown so much as acquiring a sort of constant nagging fear that Donald Trump is looking over my shoulder every time I want to do something fun. Does that just sound irresistably appealing to anyone else?
I'd rather make Donald trump fear I was looking over his shoulder every time he wanted to do something fun. That's power.
Right on, Robin. :)
Mykola...
The fact that...

...simply means you are going to be rich as well as famous. You hope.
What you do with that fortuitous meeting of the stars will be up to you.
You see what I mean?
You still deserve the RAV. What you do with it we will all watch. You have reached a higher place (and potentially) a much bigger fall.
I hope you always remember where you came from... so you can land on something soft.
Go forward and do what is next to be done, Mykola.
As I said before congratulations.

Too bad you just write about that boring old political stuff. If you'd been writing about important stuff like whether Vista is better than OSX, Microsoft might've given you a shiny new Ferrari laptop... and they weren't even making you sign in blood! :)
Yes, unfortunately, Evano, I don't "specialize in consumer-oriented applications of Windows and other Microsoft technologies, such as digital photography, gaming, multimedia, home-finance and the like." As if Microsoft invented all of those things... Heh.
When I started posting a year ago, Myk was already going strong and Aine was revving up -- neither one of them have stopped since.
I second Evano's kind words and also congratulate you both on your consistency, endurance, and your fearlessness to present insightful thought-provoking perspectives on our world.
Well done! Well deserved!
Well done you two! Thoroughly deserved ;¬)
Congratulations, guys! You're two of my favourite 'viners, and always have been right from January of last year.
I'm a little late coming into this, but nevertheless, congratulations to the both of you. You have done a lot to make newsvine interesting and smart.
Thanks, everybody!
*curtsies*
Aine,
You deserve more than these few accolades for the richness you bring to the cyber world.
Thank you for all you've done to make my world livable.

I'm no angel. I owe a great debt... and to you, too.
well done --- congrats to you both
Congratulations!!! :)
Give them each a cookie!. Congrats folks!
One from Michigan, one more from Ohio. If this were football! Congratulations to you both.
Thanks guys. I like cookies! Calvin, I think Graphix is on to something here...
I believe Miss Dev knows how to bake.
Ahen, I hear she makes "special" brownies. Whatever that means...
