Celestina forgot to mention an important bit of vinespeak during a recent interview on WPVM 103.5 and brainshrub.com, the RAV. So, to remind her of the meaning of this term, which denotes the highest form of recognition by the Newsvine Team, we're awarding Celestina the Random Act of Vineness award - for her many good deeds around the Vine, and now, on the air.
Let us start by saying that Celestina has a beautiful voice, one that you could listen to on the radio for hours on end. During her interview, she did a terrific job of representing the spirit of involvement that Newsvine has grown to be known for. The show, "Tips for Political Bloggers - The Audio Archive of Internet Activism", chose its interviewee very wisely. Celestina has long been known to frequent the most controversial of political and ethical topics around the Vine. Yet, she does so with great care and consideration for her fellow 'Viners.
During the interview, Celestina described some Newsvine acronyms to the interviewer, Paul V. She explained the COH :), the AOD (!) and even briefly mentioned the NDC (of which we were thankful she did not elaborate on, for the sake of our collective credibility). Of the many great articles she has contributed to Newsvine, she mentioned a few memorable pieces that gained recognition elsewhere around the web:
Call For The Ban Of Girl Scout Cookies
Whether she's organizing a Tangle, judging an AOD match, or putting together a drinking contest with participants across the globe - she'll always remind us that Newsvine can be fun and serious at the same time.
We'd like to thank Celestina for always tackling the tough subjects with a soft hand, for generally promoting goodness around the Vine and for furthering the reach of our community by gaining recognition as an influential contributor outside of Newsvine - by making her only the 8th Newsvine user to receive the Random Act of Vineness award.
Congratulations, Celestina! :-)

Oh, damn. I was just about to head out the door when I saw this, and now you have gone and made me all weepy.
Thanks, guys. I really don't know what to say, but I really, really appreciate it.
Once again -- highly deserved.
Congratulations, Celestina - a well deserved honor.
Woo-hoo. Congratulations.
Hear, hear! (or Here Here, or Hear Here, or whatever it is.)
It's "hear, hear!".
I swear, I heard that too!
Way to go, Celestina - this is a well-deserved honor!
Why are you United States of America citizens so obsessed with beer? There are other great beverages in this world, too, you know. Like Baileys, Breezers, Rum, Sprite (the fizzy drink), and Fresh Lime Soda (my favourite).
Good excuse, but you being part Irish is all the more reason for you to take a break from drinking beer. It's in your blood, man!
Celestina, you know I love you. You deserve so much more than even this. It will be coming in your future.
I can't spare the time right now at work to listen to your radio interview, but I know your voice on Newsvine is priceless. You're the number one example that proves being nice, polite and compassionate doesn't mean you can't be edgy, cool, uninhibited, and incisive.
Bravo!
An honor for the honorable....congrats
Congratulations Celestina.
Excellent!
You don't find random acts of vineness to be some elitist organization?
What a wonderful, well-deserved honor. Congratulations, indeed.
I was in 2 minds about the NDC thing too...
We all knew what you meant...heh.
You and Stacy Malbon are perfect poster children for newsvine.
Kudos.

nurture kindness there
Congratulations. you are a champion and a lady.
A well deserved award for a very deserving author and person. You are one of the many authors/reasons I stay and enjoy Newsvine so much!
Kudos!!
Wooooooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You deserve it, sister! Now you and Aine have to keep those boys in order! ;)
Celestina—one of my oldest friends on the 'vine… Congrats to you. Ya know, actually, I saw Calvin's link to this article on your column, and the first thing I thought was, Celestina hasn't already gotten the RAV?
Soooo, NV team: What're you gonna do when the people who already have the RAV branch do more things that're RAV-worthy? You'll have to change their Vineacity meter dealies to a different color or something…
I thought I read that people could get multiple RAV awards.
Though, I can't think of anything more depressing than having not earned my first as others are getting #2.
I suppose I'll have to do something random and full of Vineness.
:)
Ditto that Brian. And don't worry Oldfogey, I thought the exact same thing.
One of you RAV recipients needs to write a 10-step guide on how to win the award. I need one, too. :-D
Let's drink a keg to Celestina. No competition, just a pure drunkfest.
Congrats, C.
Sure, if it's a keg of fresh lime soda.
There are actually a good number of you who are more than qualified for an RAV, given the overall amount of good you've done for this community. Mainly, I'm just waiting for something to come along that makes for a good announcement. Celestina was kind enough to finally give me something I could write about and use as en example of the type of cool things she does for Newsvine on a regular basis. Not that the NDC didn't qualify either, it's just that I was a little too hung over to do the blog post the following day ;)
Don't think that we don't notice all the day in day out good deeds that many of you do. We do!
And, don't forget -- you can nominate people if you feel someone deserves the award.
I sent out a personal appeal for Zaki while he was in the Middle East -- and I suspect I wasn't alone in that nomination. I'm sure he would have gotten it anyway -- but it never hurts to send along a suggestion.
Got it, Brian. Calvin, give the bugger a RAV already! ... before he starts sobbing in public.

Actually -- anytime I feel as though I've been passed over, or that I ought to have that sixth vine -- I got look at the reasons everyone else has one, and realize why I don't have one.
The calls to give them out more frequently are a bad idea, imo.
I don't want to be on the list of people who got it because the standards were relaxed.
I'd prefer to earn it.
Hello Number 8. I am Number 4. Secret information will be sent to you shortly. For your eyes only.
You know, I think I like being number 8. It has a sort of...voluptuous look to it. As to the secret information, does it come with a secret decoder ring? Special spy glasses? Maybe something to make me invisible? 'Cause that would be great...
RAV rings Activate!
*flash of energy. Superhero suits appear on the RAV holders. Lots of spandex....*

Looks more like a 6, in my opinion. Caprica 6.
:) Congratulations, Celestina.
Congrats Celestina! Well done and well deserved.
Thanks, everyone, for showing up to offer congratulations. Dammit, there is no way to do this without sounding cheesy, but I really do appreciate you all. I hope to see many of you at Oldfogey's get-together in May.
It's like winning an Oscar and a Nobel Prize in the same week... And you deserve it!
Congrats Celestina. It's always good to see great work rewarded, particularly someone like you who puts Newsvine's best face forward to the rest of the world. Keep up the good work!
Well done, Celestina. You certainly deserve it.
I love your work. Congrats!
