Newsvine is changing. We're in Beta and nearing the biggest change in the history of the site. We've got a new support section. Now we've got a new blog.
We're starting this blog nearly from scratch because in refreshing the site, we want to renew our commitment to making Newsvine the best news discussion site possible.
One of the most important parts of fulfilling that commitment is improving communication to the people who make Newsvine's success possible:
Newsviners. Our users.
This version of Newsvine Blog doesn't have much content as of this writing - but from the developers to the moderators, we're going to fill it up. There will be features to explain, issues to discuss, and a whole new site to help with.

Its bad CL1. My aunt, who is 70 had to show me how to do the pics while talking thing on her ipad. Sigh........
My tracker has given up the ghost! Do you think in the event of Beta going live on 07.02.2013 someone ought to be humming the last post?!
Mine has been acting funny too. Some days the tracker works. Some days it does not. I am just busy trying to put all the vine connections I know in my list kept on the computer, just so I can go see them again in case I can't once they do the switch. Se la vie. We shall see.
I sent in a "bug report" about the tracker and they responded that all users are having the same problem and they are working on it. Yea! :)
My Trackers haven't been acting right since the weekend. I'm missing lots of comments.
Just have to establish new habits to counter-act the glitches... to stay sane. :P
Me too CL1. I've missed many comments. I just have to go follow myself from my own column to see if there is any new activity. Will try. BTW, did I tell you I love that puppy pic for your avatar?
Thanx, NlC.. I know it's hard to tell, but it's supposed to be a bunny. lol ..They were probably hoping the long ears would be a give-away, but I wasn't sure either! :P
Good idea to follow your own comments!
When we were in classic I would see a comment page like this every once in a while and I would think " I hope this isn't what beta is going to be like ". Well guess what? All I can say is that it looks unfinished compared to classic. I haven't used my column yet but I like how it looks. It was easy to find the tracker, groups etc. Very intuitional. I think it will work out just fine for me.
Me too. Very nice on the eyes in presentation!
Yes, I second that! Just takes a little bit of time.
Good to see you Ms CYRAH. I think the comments look better here than on beta or the new newsvine though. What do you think?
I like my stuff colourful so I do prefer it on Beta, rufus, and also the VOTE symbols. Unmistakeable. :o)
But you're a guy so you probably like things a little more muted?
I think I might be getting that page that looks funky . Not all discussions look like that. I don't know why that happens but I would get it in classic too. Yes I like the way it looks except for that one time. Must have been a glitch.
So far it sucks big time.
You know I'm not a complete naysayer for example, had they kept Beta in this BLOG format I think it would have been quite a success ~ Such as it is however, it is quite catastrophic ~ Sooooo badly thought out it couldn't get any worse, especially the Nation's discussions fiasco! They should have spent more time fine tuning it ~Time spent is worth the effort because the site has lost its user-friendly dynamics, it's the 'baby and the bathwater' syndrome, just as I'd feared!
This is wierd..... this post has the comment tracker in it. I sure miss that.
it's very unintuitive, I've had a headache the whole time trying to navigate this jumbled mess of a update. it isnt baby, and bathwater syndrome, it's a windows ME/vista, sony psp go frustration. Why did they have to take something that was running smooth, efficient, elegant, and intuitive, very very few issues, or problems, and barf this on us. I really would like someone from the newsvine staff give me a honest answer to why they threw a wrench into a great thing. It sure isnt usability, it sure isnt to be unique, and it sure isnt to make it better for the users(customers). Did spongebob, and patrick design this????
can we have the classic design back. I grade the update a F. I mean honestly, give us the option to run in classic. Waiting very long times for all the "nations" to load on a computer with 8 cores, and 16gb of ram is simply unacceptable, esp with other sites load instantly, even loaded with embedded flash, and javascript. This blog is sort of in the old format, how about re-extending it to the rest of the site. I mean come on.
