How to Report Abuse on Newsvine

Now that we are moderating Nations, I just want to remind everyone how to report violations.

The easiest way is through our help site: support.newsvine.com

Not familiar? Check out this blog post, which goes into more detail.

Click on 'Start a Discussion', write your message and choose 'report a malicious user' from the drop down menu. Then, fire away!

We will be checking these reports daily.

Discuss this post

I hope you guys all start using this feature. It will be helpful for us to easily see the reports, and you guys will like it too since you will get answers in a timely manner.

You can use this feature for other questions and concerns as well!

Sally and Tyler. I've reopened a malicious user report originally opened in November, closed by system December 10. Please see BUGS! area.

We're also having sporadic problems with email bounce-back as described in another BUGS! report.

Yeah, this area does have the 'feel of the classic' Newsvine. Loads, and operates smoothly.

Perhaps it's not working the way it should. I have twice reported a user who told me to kill myself and have not gotten a response from NV. I know at least one user who has been suspended for "death-wishing," and as I recall that wasn't directed to another viner but rather a general statement about a group of people.

Is death-wishing fellow viners now permitted? ,

sure

Since you know I have a pending matter involving a 'viner with a false, malicious accusation against me (by implication) and a threat as well, would you prefer me to move my follow-ups with you to this feature you're talking about, or continue to email you personally. Makes no difference to me. Thnx.

What about the flags in comments? Do you/will you get/review those as well?

Using Help/Report has been the only option when trying to report comments in a nation that one is not a member of and there are no flags available.

But if you are going to read them GREAT, if you chose not to act, decide it's not warranted, a short "No Dice" or other simple acknowledgement would be a nice touch as opposed to a cold closing of the report that does not notify anybody.

"Back" just a few moments ago worked for me, thanks :o)

I usually answer, though some auto-close after three weeks and it is hard to get to everything. We have been doing a MUCH better job of staying on top of the reports now though, so keep them coming.

Also, the flag still works too :)

Am I missing something? You said:

Click on 'Start a Discussion', write your message and choose 'report a malicious user' from the drop down menu. Then, fire away!

But my only choices are General, Bug!, Features, and Site Discussions. I don't see a "report malicious user" in any drop down.

You are posting in the Newsvine Blog so you do have access. If you mean other articles, you might try to refresh the page first then click on the word BLOG at the top of the page in the green banner.
